Evaluation - Our Work - BUILD Initiative
Strong Foundations For Our Youngest Children

Systems building work is complex, which is precisely the reason that tracking and evaluating state and community work on building that system is important.

From the 2013 QRIS National MtgThis work is important for:

  • Identifying needs and opportunities.
  • Learning from actions that have been taken.
  • Ultimately, improving results for children.

The BUILD Initiative takes an interactive approach to evaluation, seeking to provide real-time information from a continuous learning and improvement perspective to those engaged in early childhood systems building work.

The BUILD staff team chronicles lessons learned and progress within the states through a variety of documents based on the BUILD Initiative Theory of Change

We have contributed to the field’s understanding of how to evaluate systems change in a number of ways, including through the publication of Julia Coffman’s seminal piece, A Framework for Evaluating Systems Initiatives.
