Evaluation
Systems building work is complex, which is precisely the reason that tracking and evaluating state and community work on building that system is important.
This work is important for:
- Identifying needs and opportunities.
- Learning from actions that have been taken.
- Ultimately, improving results for children.
The BUILD Initiative takes an interactive approach to evaluation, seeking to provide real-time information from a continuous learning and improvement perspective to those engaged in early childhood systems building work.
The BUILD staff team chronicles lessons learned and progress within the states through a variety of documents based on the BUILD Initiative Theory of Change.
We have contributed to the field’s understanding of how to evaluate systems change in a number of ways, including through the publication of Julia Coffman’s seminal piece, A Framework for Evaluating Systems Initiatives.
